Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC)
The Florida Fire Prevention Code is adopted by the State Fire Marshal at three year intervals as required by Chapter 633.202, Florida Statutes. This complex set of fire code provisions are enforced by the local fire official within each county, municipality, and special fire district in the state. The county, municipality or special district in which you reside may also have local amendments applicable only to your community.

The 8th Edition of the Florida Fire Prevention Code is now fully available in the LiNK platform for subscribers. A couple of key notes about viewing the FFPC:
- Log into your NFPA LiNK Subscription – go to the “View All Publications” button and search “Florida” – Two titles will be shown – “NFPA 1-FL Fire Code with Florida Amendments, 8th Edition, 2023” and “NFPA 101-FL Life Safety Code with Florida Amendments, 8th Edition, 2023”.
- The change markers in “NFPA 1-FL Fire Code with Florida Amendments, 8th Edition, 2023” and “NFPA 101-FL Life Safety Code with Florida Amendments, 8th Edition, 2023” indicate Florida specific amendments to the 2021 editions of NFPA 1 and 101 respectively. If you need to research changes to from the 2018 edition to 2021 edition of NFPA 1 or NFPA 101, make sure you review those NFPA documents directly. Local Amendments to the Florida Fire Prevention Code
Access any local amendment affecting your community. Local amendments are enforceable only by the local jurisdiction and may not be appealed to the State Fire Marshal.

9th Edition Adoption Proceedings
The Department of Financial Services, Division of State Fire Marshal, announces that it is seeking written comments and proposals for Florida specific amendments to the edition of NFPA 1 (2024 edition) and NFPA 101 (2024 edition). This comment period ends October 14th, 2024 at 5:00 pm.
