Public Adjuster Fradulently Witheld Appraisal Award Payments
The Department of Financial Services received a complaint from an insurance consumer regarding a public adjuster fraudulently withholding more than $42,000 awarded by the insurance company for a homeowner's insurance claim. After the contact they issued payment to the insured of only $27,000. The public adjuster listed several questionable fees covering the difference and was unable to provide evidence of having contacted the insured. After contacting the Department, the consumer received full payment of the insurance claim for repairs on their home. If you need assistance with an insurance claim, please contact the Florida Department of Financial Services at 1-877-MY-FL-CFO (693-5236).
